Getting Started

Get TaskTicklet

TaskTicklet is available now on the Mac App Store. Use the Download on the Mac App Store badge on the TaskTicklet page to download it.

Connect Jira, if you want to

In Settings, enter your Jira Cloud site URL, your email, and an Atlassian API token. TaskTicklet then reads your projects, active sprints, and issues directly from your own Jira Cloud site. Jira integration is entirely optional: you can track time against tasks you create yourself in TaskTicklet without ever connecting Jira.

Start tracking

TaskTicklet lives in the menu bar. Pick a task or Jira issue and start a timer in one click, no separate window to open or manage.

Everyday Operations

Track from the menu bar

Start and stop a timer against any task or Jira issue directly from the menu bar, and take a break when you need one without losing the running entry.

Compare burnt against estimated

Every tracked task shows the real time it burned next to its estimate, so you can see, issue by issue and sprint by sprint, where the plan and the actual work diverge.

Projects and sprints

When Jira is connected, TaskTicklet reads in your projects, active sprints, and issues automatically, optionally limited to issues assigned to you. Nothing TaskTicklet does is ever written back to Jira.

Settings

Manage your Jira connection, or disconnect Jira entirely, which removes the API token from the macOS Keychain immediately.

Free and Pro

TaskTicklet is free to install and use for time tracking, with 1 project (created locally or synced in from Jira) and up to 15 tasks. TaskTicklet Pro is an optional auto-renewable subscription, billed monthly or yearly with a 14-day free trial, managed and cancelled from your Apple account rather than inside the app. Pricing and the exact Pro feature set have not been announced yet.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does TaskTicklet upload my data anywhere?

No. TaskTicklet has no account and no server of its own. Your tasks, projects, time entries, breaks, and settings are stored only on your Mac. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

Is connecting Jira required?

No. Jira integration is entirely optional. You can track time against tasks you create in TaskTicklet without ever connecting a Jira account.

What does TaskTicklet do with my Jira API token?

It is stored in the macOS Keychain on your Mac, not in TaskTicklet's own storage and not on any TaskTicklet server. TaskTicklet talks directly from your Mac to your own Jira Cloud site over HTTPS, and never writes anything back to Jira.

How do I disconnect Jira?

Open Settings and disconnect Jira. This removes the API token from the Keychain right away.

Is TaskTicklet Pro a subscription?

Yes. It renews monthly or yearly and includes a 14-day free trial. You can manage or cancel it any time in your Apple account settings at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds for App Store purchases and subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple, not by us directly. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com or through Settings › Media & Purchases on your Mac.

Where is my data stored, and how do I delete it?

Everything lives in TaskTicklet's own sandbox container on your Mac, at ~/Library/Containers/com.taskticklet.app/Data/Library/Application Support/TaskTicklet/data.json. Deleting that file, or deleting TaskTicklet itself, removes it.

What macOS version does TaskTicklet need?

macOS 14 or later.
