Privacy Policy

SnapRid is a macOS app that finds, organizes, and helps clean up screenshots stored on your Mac. This policy describes what it does and does not do with your data, and there is not much to describe. SnapRid collects nothing, tracks nothing, and never sends your screenshots or any of your data anywhere. The one exception is Apple's own purchase processing for the optional Pro unlock, described below.
What SnapRid accesses
- Folders you explicitly authorize. The first time you run SnapRid, and any time afterward through Settings, you choose which folders it may look in, whether that is Desktop, Documents, Downloads, Pictures, or any folder you pick, through a standard macOS folder selection panel. SnapRid never looks anywhere you have not approved.
- Screenshot files within those folders, so it can display them, recognize on-screen text for search, and detect duplicates.
What SnapRid does with it
- Everything happens on your Mac. Text recognition, categorization, and duplicate detection all run locally using Apple's built-in Vision framework. None of it is sent to a server, and SnapRid has no network code that could send it even by mistake.
- SnapRid keeps a local index of file names, dates, sizes, recognized text, and category in its own app storage on your Mac, so it does not have to rescan everything every time you open it. This index never leaves your Mac.
- Moving files to Trash, archiving, or creating a ZIP export all write only to locations on your own Mac that you chose.
- SnapRid Pro, an optional one time in-app purchase that unlocks OCR search, categorization, duplicate detection, Archive, and ZIP export, is processed entirely by Apple's own App Store through StoreKit. That is the only network connection SnapRid makes at all. SnapRid never sees your payment details. Apple handles the transaction and simply tells SnapRid whether it is unlocked. No SnapRid account or login is involved, on either side.
What SnapRid does not do
- No account, sign-in, or registration of any kind, Pro included.
- No analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking.
- No advertising or ad tracking.
- No screenshot, recognized text, or index data is ever sent anywhere.
- No data is shared with, or sold to, anyone, because none is ever collected in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If SnapRid's behavior ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
